駐日パキスタン・イスラム共和国大使が表敬訪問、特別講義を実施 Courtesy Call and Special Lecture by the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Japan

10月22日(水)、駐日パキスタン・イスラム共和国 アブドゥル・ハミード大使及びチョードリー・タルハ・ビン・ハリッド参事官が、坂井 貴文学長を表敬訪問されました。
懇談では本学から市橋 秀夫副学長(国際・グローバル教育担当)、川本 健教授(理工学研究科)、越智 貴子准教授(国際本部)、Usama Zafar助教(理工学研究科)が同席し、今後の両国間の交流について、貴重な意見交換が行われました。

On October 22, 2025, H.E. Mr. Abdul Hameed, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Japan, and Mr. Chaudhary Talha Bin Khalid, Counsellor, paid a courtesy call to Prof. Dr. Takafumi Sakai, President of Saitama University (SU). 
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Hideo Ichihashi, Vice President for International and Global Education, Prof. Dr. Ken Kawamoto, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Associate Prof. Takako Ochi, International Office, and Assistant Prof. Dr. Usama Zafar, Graduate School of Science and Engineering from SU. During the meeting, valuable discussions were held regarding future academic and cultural exchanges between Japan and Pakistan.

懇談終了後、川本教授の進行により、本学学生を対象にした特別講演が行われました。講演では、パキスタンの現状と課題、日本とパキスタンの関係や開発援助、人材育成の重要性など多岐にわたる話題提供があり、参加した学生にとって国際的な視野を広げる貴重な機会となりました。
また、本学では、パキスタンのラホール工科大学との大学間交流協定を軸に、学生交流・研究交流を展開しているところですが、今回の大使訪問を機に、多方面にわたる交流促進が期待されます。

Following the meeting, Prof. Kawamoto facilitated a special lecture to SU students. The lecture covered a wide range of topics, including Pakistan's current situation and challenges, Japan-Pakistan relations and development cooperation, and the importance of human resource development. It was a meaningful opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of global issues and broaden their international perspectives. 
SU is currently promoting student and research exchanges based on an inter-university agreement with Lahore University of Technology in Pakistan. The Ambassador’s visit is expected to further enhance collaboration in various fields and strengthen ties between the two institutions.
