This course takes the harmony of humanity, science, and technology as its theme and deals comprehensively with education and research on underlying theoretical concepts, hardware and software. Research and education in the mathematical field consider a diversity of mathematical phenomena in three areas of study: algebraic structures, which aims at an understanding of algebraic concepts; geometrical structures, which adds the inquiry into spatial relations; and analytic structures, which investigates functions occurring in mathematical models via differential and integral calculus. In the field of electric and electronic systems we deal mainly with electronic materials and devices, starting with semiconductors, with the circuitry and communication systems that use such devices, and with energy and control systems that are indispensable to human society. Informatics education and research evenly covers a wide area, not only the basic principles of information science in mathematical informatics, but also the fundamental technologies of computers and networks in computer science and, in media information science, their application, where the central question is how to harmonize human beings and society with technology.
