Course in Mechanical Engineering and Science

A skill transfer system based on VR (Virtual Reality) technology.

A skill transfer system based on VR (Virtual Reality) technology.

Purpose in educational research :
We assume the production science and technology and the man assistive technology to be a kernel, and : the new function system based on the societal demand like the production machine system and the man support mechanical system etc. for the man harmony type with a new function.
The training of a researcher and an advanced professional engineer who can initiate each technology field worldwide by having the ability to create based on a principle of the physical phenomenon and practicing engineering approach, and using this ability effectively in addition is assumed to be a purpose on the educational research.

Manufacturing science lies at the very center of engineering and it has an important role to play in society, especially in a country like Japan, which bases its economy on technology. A wide ranging variety of fields of learning touch on manufacturing science and it must work organically with the other areas of engineering in order to stimulate innovation and retain flexibility in the face of rapid progress in science and technology, computerization, globalization and ever-changing societal needs. Moreover, society in the 21st century will continue to age rapidly, while the fusion of industrial technology and IT (Information Technology) will further increase productivity and efficiency. One can perhaps say that the design and the building of a system of implementation of a rich societal infrastructure in which humans and robots coexist is the core of human support and manufacturing science and engineering. In view of the scientific and societal demands thus placed on manufacturing science, the course is divided into the two areas of manufacturing science and human support engineering. While the area of manufacturing science deals mostly with materials science, manufacturing science, and thermal-fluid science, the area of human support engineering deals with robotics and mechatronics, and mechanics and design. Exploiting the synergy of these two areas, the course pursues research and education from the foundations of human support engineering and manufacturing science to advanced areas and applications and up to cross-disciplinary science at the cutting edge.
