バングラデシュ工科大学教授（大学院理工学研究科修了生）が協定更新のため学長を訪問 Two Scholars Reunited

8月1日(月)、大学院理工学研究科博士後期課程修了生A.F.M.Saiful Amin 氏が、山口宏樹学長を表敬訪問しました。Amin 氏は在籍当時、山口学長を指導教員として研究に励み、現在は、バングラデシュ工科大学（Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, BUET）の教授として、JICA及びJST支援による共同プロジェクトに携わっています。
今回の訪問は、本学がBUETと2011年3月に締結した大学間協定更新時期が、共同プロジェクトの開始時期と重なったため、Amin 氏は先方学長が署名した協定書を携え、山口学長を訪問しました。久しぶりの再会は、研究生活の現状と課題が話題の中心となり、Amin氏は、今後も埼玉大学を訪問すると母校再訪を誓いました。
本学は、これまで博士前・後期課程に２０名以上のBUET出身者を受け入れており、本学で学位取得した教員２名は、BUET教授としてバングラデシュの人材育成に貢献しています。
Dr. A.F.M.Saiful Amin, professor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Hiroki Yamaguchi, President of SU on August 1. Dr. Amin, in fact, graduated from SU with a PhD degree in Science & Engineering, and Dr. Yamaguchi was his academic supervisor then. Dr. Amin now coordinates a joint project supported by JICA and JST.
Dr. Amin’s visit of this time is to start up the project supported by JICA and JST. Also, the timing coincides with the renewal of the agreement between BUET and SU concluded in March 2011, so he carried the new agreement, signed by President Yamaguchi’s counterpart, with him during his visit.
Their reunion after a long time was filled with exchange of talks on lives of researchers and their present situations. Dr. Amin promises, ‘I will visit SU again as frequently as possible.’
SU has accepted more than 20 students for Master's and Doctoral Programs from BUET so far. Two graduates, who received degrees from SU, have been already contributing to the field of human resource development for their nation.
