The Faculty of Science is made up of the departments of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Molecular Biology and Regulation Biology and spans a wide range of studies over the five different courses. As students of science, the objective is to study of the basic truths and principles that control the natural phenomena of this world that both surrounds and comprises us. The Faculty aims to prepare students to apply their acquired skills with imaginative creativity and a diverse field of vision, to develop student's skills in finding new ideas, being positive in tackling new issues and training their problem solving skills. That two of the five departments are biology-related sciences also stands out as a feature of the Faculty of Science at Saitama University.
The solidly planned four-year programs were systematically designed to provide the student with a background in basic concepts, up-to-the-minute topics and advances, as well as further studies in specialized disciplines. With an above-average student-teacher ratio in all departments, active discussion between faculty members and students during lectures and laboratory sessions creates an environment conducive to a high level of education.
In addition, the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering preside over the joint Graduate School of Science and Engineering (Master's and Doctoral Programs), a successful pioneering collaboration. |
